A smile

A smile means så much. Sometimes it says more than a thousand words. A smile might open up someone’s heart. A smile spread joy to others. What if we more dared to open up our heart and give of ourselves to others.

My sister has a severe cerebral palsy daughter, who really is a happy girl. My sister, Helene, think it’s ok if I pass this little sunshine story about Amanda, her daughter.

Amanda is often looking to get in contact with others, when she is for example on a bus. Then she looks around to se if she can make a contact with someone in the bus. If she gets a contact she smiles so happily and she shows her joy, ”How nice of you, that you think that I’m a nice looking girl, because I also think that”, it seems that she is thinking something like that. It is often men, she is looking for ☺, she wants to have their attention.

Here comes a little sunshine story about just that. Amanda was going to Stockholm to see the Circus Soleil with my sister. They would sleep over, one night in Stocholm, so they took the train to Stockholm. They took the wheelchair on the subway. On one of the seats there was a really dirty, drugged, homeless man. He looked miserable, my sister said. Amanda sat opposite him and looked to see if she could get in contact with him, and she did get in touch with him. Then she was shining all over her face, like the sun, as she always does when she makes a contact. Amanda puts no values in the people she meets. They talked to the man on the whole trip and gave him a brotherly warmth. He was so happy and asked questions about Amanda ”What’s her name?” Helene told him her namne and also said that Amanda liked him. ”Thank you so much – take care of you … he said, a homeless, drugged man with a life that he felt was not worth anything.” Amanda, she shone like the sun, she had gotten a contac with a man. People in the carriage showed distans, ”people like that you do not talk to,” it felt like people thought that, said Helene.

My wonder is what impression did Amanda do to this man, did he learn something of the situation? What did the passengers learn, did they got a lesson or? Amanda wants others to see her, pay attention to her because she is so happy when she manages to get in touch and she managed even this time. What an incredible event, imagine if more of us could experienc this type of meetings of humanity, warmth and love.

Have a wonderful day!

With light and greetings!
